Expert says users to have no problems over IPv4 address deficit

MOSCOW, Sep 6 (PRIME) -- Ordinary customers will not notice deficit of Internet addresses of protocol IPv4, exploited by most of websites, Andrei Vorobyov, head of Coordination Center for TLD RU, administrator of domains .ru and .ðô, told PRIME on Friday.

“The bulk of advanced user devices already support work with protocol IPv6, this is why users will hardly notice the transfer. All producers of software and owners of largest marketplaces set the condition to support IPv6 long ago,” Vorobyov said.

Media reported earlier that addresses of the most popular protocol will run short in Russia, Europe, and the Middle East by the end of September.

Vorobyov said the main concern will rest with the operators as they will have not only to adjust necessary equipment and connection, but ensure connectivity with the part of the network that still functions on IPv4.

“The process will consume extra efforts and expenses, but since the process of transfer started long ago, companies have mostly made provisions for it,” he said.
